Hopefully, in the event of an accident you'd have the other driver as a witness that the biker undertook them at high speed on the approach to the roundabout. That is providing they were taxed, insured and bothered to stop.

Having driven in both the UK and Canada, I would say UK drivers are more aggresive but better capable of handling their cars. Here the majority of drivers are sloppy, inattentive and lack basic car handling skills. This is especially apparent when the roads are ice and snow covered. A typical wnter commuting morning in Calgary can easily see over 100 fender benders (in a city of 1 million)

Maybe part of the problem is car design, On my bike i am exposed but can see everything, in the car the mirors are just fine but every other view is obstructed by door pillars and head rests. I do agree that as bikers we need to take some resposibility to make ourselves easier to see and to ride sensibley

I think that a lot of drivers feel that with four wheel drive, abs, esc, tc, etc. they can drive at the max speed limit not matter what the road or weather conditions. When the first snow arrives here you see no end of 4x4's in the ditch because they think they can stop and go no matter what the roads are like. Also in their mini-tanks the view is "ïf I have an accident I'll be ok, so who cares"
