2 hours for a CBT??? I though it was an all day thing, then if you don't reach the required standard (it's not a pass or fail test, it's training), you come back and do a half day?

Keep your head up though, it'll all come in time. You thought about doing it on your bike seeing as your familiar with it?

Well after we'd had all the spiel about motorcycling safety etc before we went out to the carpark yes it was about 2 and a half hours practical time

So was it just a half day overall then? Most DAS courses you get a full day on the first day (ie: 6-8 hours) to do the CBT and the classroom stuff should be 90 minutes at most. 2 1/2 hours isn't enough time for a complete newbie to master a geared bike to 'u' turn and emergency stop standard. Some people take the first hour just to get clutch control, and the second to get up into second and third gear.

Well we were supposed to get there for 8.45am, by the time the official stuff was out the way and the introductory talk over with it must have been getting on for 10am. The chap giving the talk was a newbie instructor, he was lovely but a little nervous so probably took a bit longer than he should have done. Then the bike and scooter had to be loaded in the van (in between a few fag and coffee breaks for the instructors) for us to be driven to the training car park about a mile away. Then we had the whole bike controls, on/off stand etc spiel, again given by the newbie instructor (obviously under supervision). By this time (i wasn't keeping a close check on the time btw) but it must have been about 11... then we we doing the practical side of things...We got back to the centre for 1pm and that was after driving the mile back and stopping off for 10 mins for butties...

So actually we probably didn't get an awful long time!

I wouldnt worry too much about it, there is a lot to absorb in 1 day if you are not at least familiar with how bikes work etc.
2 kids on mine didnt 'pass' either, both had never touched a bike before.
1 Binned it in the carpark while we was out on the road, cut his knee, damaged the bike, torn all his jeans.

You enjoyed it, unlike the last time. I haven't heard you screaming down the phone telling me it were a sh1te place, so all good there then!!

Well at least a proper place like this, has you back at a later date and doesn't try to wangle more cash out of you.
You shouldn't have been so bleddy stubborn lass, a lesson learned. I'm the same so I completely understand.

...and just as it stopped raining too...gah, ahh well you'll get it all done next week.

YOU KNOWS IT :-)

Don't worry about it, what's the rush. If you think about it logically the longer you spend on training the longer you may be riding....

Very true.

It's the fact I can't afford attempt after attempt at it, and I really need the transport and the freedom. But I agree wholeheartedly, the more time I spend practicing the less likely I am to make a stupid mistake when it counts :)

Hey nobody`s at their best after only a couple of hours sleep no matter how young you are! Sounds a bitch of a day to be honest but good on you hun. What you`ve learnt today won`t be forgotten and it`s all good experience for when you go back. Give yourself a pat on the back and best of luck for your next session x
