I know I don't have any probs with the Nice&Easy so will stick to that for the moment....my natural hair colour is a mousy blonde and the dye i use is mahogany, dunno why but it brings my hair out a lush red. I want it to stay but then I'm thinking it might not be a good idea, i've got a few things coming up that might not agree with red hair....gah...stick with non permanent then I suppose!

How the hell did that quote me as Lily:-s

Yeah the reason being is because hair just isn't the colour you see. I am a mousy strawberry blonde. I aren't supposed to go near ash tone blondes, for fear of it turning green. Reason being is because my natural colour already holds a red pigmentation. You don't see it red, I ain't a gingernut, it just reacts in a way I don't expect.
I tried going for a slightly different shade of one that I use, and it went salmon pink! Andrea had to get the peroxide and one her own salon colours to tone it down:mad:

Its probably why yours reacts well to red, because you have slight red/warm tones already. Much the same as I have to use cooler shade blondes, as otherwise they look like I've been smoking too many fags! I still want red hair, might just go all pink instead;)

That would be cool :) And as for Pete's reaction... ;-)

Ok I THINK i've decided to go non permanent again this time. I have a placement for a month at the start fo may and I'm not too sure they'd be happy if I turn up with bright red hair...so I'm probably better not going permanent lol.

hmmmmmm I'm sure I get where you're coming from with the pink;)

Depends where your placement is chick, I think most places accept it as the norm for even middle aged suited ladies, to turn up with a bright green patch of streaks in the fringe, so a full head of luscious red hair probably wouldn't be noticed. I agree though, best to test the water.
Personally I'd wait if I was in your shoes, especially going on yer jollies in the sun, I have the opposite effect, instead of fading mine just goes white:p

Have fun whatever colour you go. I've mixed and matched dyes for years without any problems.
The permenant colour still leches when wet not when dry - and only when i wash it - not when it gets wet in the rain. I use XXXL all ths time and love it but I think my hair got used to going strange colours.
And enjoy your holibags too!!!

Practical option - just take some dye with you. If it fades... dye it again. Job done.

i dye my hair a lot, dyed it blue when i had my Mohawk and usually dye my hair once a month

the sun wont affect it that bad, its if you go in a pool with chlorine in it, BUT if you do it 2 weeks before hand then the hair will have had enough time to seal the colour in.

never had any problem doing it like that, ohh and use XXL stuff tiz the best ;)

I used to have red in my hair, before I joined the dark side, I always get it done at a hair dressers and always permenant. I found that with my hair, the red used to fade very quick, but then I was left with pink/orange faded hair which was a NIGHTMARE to strip! It's amazing how technical dying hair is!

Back when I had hair, I used to dye it black. It never faded and never stopped me stripping :p

Like I said previously, red is the worst colour to get rid of. There are ways, which if they aren't done right can completely ruin your hair, turn it to straw and break it.

Good job my fairy godmother lady lives down the road(great at night when you've got a towel of embarrassment wrapped on yer noggin), charges me nothing, and fixes it:cheers:
She used to streak my hair pink, but I've watched her so often I can do it myself, and sometimes better:p

I used the xxl and i found it very tricky to use, I was left with patches. I have been dyeing my own hair for about 30 years. Never stick to the same colour or make. In last 6 months I have been blond, red, blue, brown and now something called watermelon red. It never turns out like the colour on the box. Was going to go back to my natural brown but there is too much grey now
