I was out today, full leathers, gloves, boots was fine till stopped and sat in the sun for an hour lol

Really should put something on under the leather trousers cos it was like boil in a bag.

I was out today in a Held textile jacket and a pair of normal jeans with Daytona bike boots - it was a nice bright day and I wanted to ride slow and just take in the atmosphere. wearing slightly inappropriate kit slows me down.

Don't know about you Lozzo but back in the 70's/80's & early 90's I wore leather jacket, gloves, helmet, jeans and trainers all the time unless it was a long run out. Jeans and trainers today but tomorrow will be different coz its a long run out.

Times have changed I guess, and for the better but if based on probabilities is it a version of 'elf and saafty the we are all subscribing to?

I'm not suggesting anyone does any different than what they've been taught, or what they're comfortable with. As someone has already said, each to their own.

P.S. You'd never catch me without gloves. That's the hardest skin graft to take, or jacket for similar reasons.

Bri, I was exactly the same. My first trip abroad was a long weekend to the south of France in 1986, and it was done 2-up on a VF400F with camping kit, both of us dressed in leather jackets, jeans, hi-top trainers and Simpson Bandit lids with very basic leather gloves. We didn't take waterproofs and the jackets didn't have armour, back protectors or any of that pansy nonsense. I owned a full set of leathers from the age of 22 (1984), but hardly ever wore them because it felt weird riding in anything but jeans. Nowadays it feels really weird not to be wearing leathers or textile waterproof kit.

In the early 80s me and my hooligan RD and LC riding mates would regularly scream down from Bedford to Chelsea Bridge on a Friday night, then on to Heston Services, and ride home at about 2am in nylon Yamaha paddock jackets, jeans and Frank Thomas paddock boots etc - if it was cold a few of us would wear the paddock jacket over a leather one. We all used to wear football scarves - none of us was actually into football, but when tied together they made a good tow rope cos one of the RDs or LCs always seized on the way home.

I wear cycle shorts under my leathers. Was out today with all the gear on and put them under, though I didn't take my trousers off, they made them less sticky as I got so hot.
I just rode faster to cool down :D

I dunno, a chick pulling up on her bike and peeling off hot leather pants to reveal just a g-string or something is pretty good.

Each to their own, If I'm going for a long hoon then its leathers.

Why bother going at all then? Just wait until you're actually going somewhere and get petrol then.
