Re: Not Happy....
Express gave me loads of different charges when changing bikes, they even wanted to charge me for changing details which they had got wrong in the first place.

Re: Not Happy....
i wouldn't even mind a 50quid charge ... but to say i have to take out a new policy or go without theft protection is crazy.

Re: Not Happy....
Tell them it is Worlsey, then again they put up the premium as they will think you can afford it.

Re: Not Happy....
so far i have been on hold 4h30mins with express insurance and all i wanted to tell them was that i want to cancel my insurance, no refund, just cancel.
I have now given up trying to cancel. earlier in the year i changed form a curvey 2002 sv to a 2005 sv. The policy cost £270. And to change to the 2005 sv they wanted an extra £310 for the last 4 month. I tried to explain that that was ridiculas but insurance companies dont do things logically. |
Re: Not Happy....
Take out a new policy on your bike and explain to them that your current insurance wont cover you due to their restrictions.
Once your no claims come through from your current policy, call the insurer and get them to adjust your policy. Done. We had to do this with the freelander when I gave it to Jenn. She had a month on her policy and they wouldn't cover her on the new car. Once the existing policy ran out we just called and added her NCB and they adjusted it to suit. |
Re: Not Happy....
If you are gonna ring round for quotes etc, try Adrian Flux. Ive had my modern car insured with them for years and had my bike with them too when I had one. Phoned up today for a quote on an SV, 110 TPFT, or 150 Fully Comp :) Although I do live in a very safe area and the bike will be garaged.
Oh, and the service is good too, took me about 2 mins to get through on the phone. |
Re: Not Happy....
cant you get monthly insurance, will cost you but better than nothing

Re: Not Happy....
I was in a similar predicament recently, paid in full but weren't willing to switch the last 3 months of cover over to new bike, except I'd also have to pay a cancellation fee As WELL as losing the 1 years ncb's. Tossers

Re: Not Happy....
Its a regular scam with insurers this. They wont allow chages to existing policies like change of bike,or address,or anything else without either cancelling the policy(little or no rebate),or charging a ludicrous extra amount for the change. You then lose the no claims you would have got if the policy had run for the full year, because you have to take out a brand new policy before the old one was up.
In this case I would keep your existing policy for the three months left, and buy a big hefty chain for when you leave it at work. You can usually find something solid to chain it to if you look around. Then when you renew the policy go somewhere else and tell them why you wont be back. |
