What on earth makes you say that? Just a complete guess.

it make me say that because like mr Speirs sead its the first i have head the suspension been to hard on a sv, so like i sead originally "it might have harder springs in the front" from the previous owner or one before that (IF the bike is second hand)

Wow. First time I've seen a thread like this!! Suspension too hard on SV!!

obviously there is load of other things that might be the problem, all i was doing is suggesting one possibility, like most people have done.....

get it now ?

Re: Suspension set up 10st?

I think LP point was how can you deduce its got hard front springs from the OP

Mr Speirs point is that the SV is known for its incredidbly soft suspension

All the characteristics of the problem point to the rear shock, not the front

Re: Suspension set up 10st?

i also mentioned the rear shock ..... and as i sead it MIGHT have hard spring in the front (and rear but unlikely), that could well kick your ass out of the seat if they are hard enough

and i cant deduce from the op's description that it was the front spring and no one can know that the rear shock has gone ether, as i have sead i was just giving an possibility that the springs could have been changed, nothing more nothing less

Probably lack of any kind of damping that's the issue. Lack of rebound can make it feel rather harsh, strangely over small ripples.

Exactly. :D

Barwell may I refer you here http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=150858

To the OP my I apologise for the derail I seem to have caused. If you answer my questions you will get a decent answer from the suspension gurus on here.

Im around the same weight and have also been bounced outa the seat on occasions, and that without hitting speed bumps at 60 mph ;)
Rear shock is standard and has only done 12k miles. (And the pies dont affect me either :D)

I replaced mine at 7k, although I think it was still ok

If you can't afford a better shock & can't put the weight on, then your only option is to bungee a sack of spuds on
