I think that's not a lot, over 5 years, but they have them all over the county so is that the ratio for the county? if so not bad at all.

There is a short cut at various points on/off of the A54/A537 that the camera cover meaning you can average 86mph without ever breaking the speed limit.

They can't think of a way around it, so they can't be switched on.

How do you know this? Sounds like too much of an oversight. Funny if true though

MCN are running articles on it pretty much every week, so much so the guys in charge of the cameras have stopped talking to them, not to mention the company that installed, owns and "operates" the cameras might be going out of business meaning they might all be coming down anyway

Wow, that's dumb. Surely just put cameras on the short cuts too?

Never really seen the attraction of the C&F having lived a stones throw from it for years, the B5470 and A5004 (also on the top 10 list) is much nicer route, with less nutters, less coppers, no cameras, a marginally better road surface, much better visibility, a choice of better pubs to stop at, and not as cold on those early spring jaunts.

The cameras are before and after the pub meaning you can run up to the pub doing silly speeds. If you survive then have a drink for about an hour then go down again!!

Have been there in the last couple of weeks and also there is no resurfacing done. The road is still in a bad shape.

But they have ticked the boxes on their end so all is well :)

I've done the Cat a few times since the camera's went up and if they were working, you don't need to take precautions as long as you are doing the best bit from Macc to the pub. Second set of cameras is after the pub so can't average you. Three sets of camera's from Cat down to the Buxton end.

The surface at the Buxton end which was notoriously poor has been renewed I noticed when I was up there last Saturday and is now good up to the A54 junction.

B5004 Long Hill seems to be as heavily policed as the Cat now days and the Blue Builder's camera van is a regular visitor to the lay-by on the long straight. Also need to watch out at Fernilee which is down to 40 through the village.

PS who's is the silver SV in the C & F carpark on Google Street View ?

Its been well publicised in the Macclesfield Express as there has been uproar about it locally due to the amount of local budget that was spent on something which is now useless

Your having a laugh I hope... a report once said most of the actual crashes were tourist coming to the area from far and wide (south probably) due to its reputation.

it is not the road that is dangerous it is the tits that are riding outwith their capabilities on it. I came down from Scotland for AR04 and the main rideout was snake pass and cat and fiddle. I was so nervous about riding the cat and fiddle as I had heard so many stories about how technically challenging etc it was. I had only been riding for about a year. I thought it was a rubbish road. I liked snake pass but the cat and fiddle was too busy with too many villages dotted along it. Probably been spoilt by the fantastic roads in Scotland.
