Yes, already half done it.

Went to the States for 3 years. Now we have a little nipper though the wife won't let us do it properly.

If we'd had him over there, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have come back.

The way I look at these situations is;

- Find out how much you really need to live in said place. Speak to locals not ex-pats!

- See if the basic amenities are available and to what cost compared to here

If figures add up then see no reason for not doing it.

That's why I'm here and not in Greece!! :)

You have to look at the whole picture, just because the housing market sucks right now, doesnt mean that you are better off in another country.

Dont get me wrong I love living in Portugal and the sun and all the perks, however, wages and taxes are different so the downsides might be hidden a little.

Yes in an instant.

Keep trying to convince my girlfriend to move near her southern HQ but she's not interested at the moment.

I have 2 potential new jobs at the moment too, one is in roughly the same sector as I am in at the moment. The other will be a complete life and social change.

I want the major life change job more than the other one despite it paying £14k more and coming with a car.

There is more to life than money, I want to start enjoying mine.

I love this country, and have many great friends but I hate our winters.

i would go - desperately tryong to get garry to going to Oz with the work but he's not making enough noise about it so will probably get overlooked

Nope but thats just me.

Life will just be the same with the same or slightly differnt problems. You still ahve to work, you still have to pay tax etc etc. Different country, different brown stuff.

If you were however, going to earn lots more and stuff like that then do it.

Nope. I did it when I was single but came back. Not likely to do it again in the near future - I couldn't do it to my daughters grandparents. Anyway, I love it here. Broken Britain my a***.

House and belongings are of zero importance to me. Couldn't care less what the Joneses are up to.

Family/relationships is where it's at. Just my tuppence worth.
