But hey I can rest assured that at least senior management wages were "looked at" in 2008  |
Re: Public Sector Pay Cuts
I bet senior management pay went up a fair bit when it got "looked at".Strange how that happens when senior management "look at" each others pay.Is your missus in a union?

Re: Public Sector Pay Cuts
I know we are on a pay freeze and the pension is being increased by 4% which equates to £100 a month.
I just saw on the news about the visit of the Pope and how much that will cost .... wonder who is paying for that cause it aint the Church is it :( Priorities in order I think ..... wonder if they will pay for me to visit my Dad in the States |
Re: Public Sector Pay Cuts
Id join one asap.Which unions organise in that workplace?
BTW the pay cut seems to be part of an ongoing re evaluation which she should have been consulted about, and her job should have been evaluated by a panel qualified to do so.That may have been done as a group rather than individually but she should have known something about it,and have a right of appeal if she can show evidence that it is wrong. |

Chief Exec of Ipswich Borough council was one of those named as earning more than the PM. Makes my blood boil  Time for a revolution, a peasants revolt +1 on getting your Missus to join the Union |
Re: Public Sector Pay Cuts
Private industry has for some time had sod all help, many are lucky to still have jobs, have been on pay freezes, redundancies etc. Years ago, public industry jobs lagged behind on pay but with the benefit of a job for life and decent pension.
These days the public industries have overtaken the private, but maintained the added benefits. I am not surprised the axe is finally been wielded. |
Re: Public Sector Pay Cuts
I may be wrong so am more than happy to be corrected, but here's what I know
# Sure Start is part of Education not Health # There are proposed pay freezes for some in education from Sept and for other from now # I know of no pay CUTS for teachers but I can't say the same for support staff # there is an expected 25% cut in the overall Education budget across the board. Not sure how this affects individuals tough Don't forget, the majority of this government were voted in, and they said the cuts would hurt! |
Re: Public Sector Pay Cuts
Depend where the axe falls, our dept has been cut to the quick. So much so, that the operational side in our area can't do its job effectively.
The net effect, will be a loss of revenue the HM Govenment, plus other folk losing their livelyhood because we're not doing our job. |

That`s a shocking article and i`m amazed they can do this. The council spokeswoman`s lack of empathy is unbelievable... she almost sounds like she wants some employees to resign! |
