Ordered a kit yesterday with some black bars. I'm guessing I'll need some new bar end weights to go with the new bars.

Cool

They weren't in the items listed in the kit description, so that's a sweet bonus.

Yep, mines the 99-02 model.

I've just fitted the kit and can agree that it's a great modification to do. Handling is improved at all speeds. In my opinion the character of the bike is altered. Every time I ride now it's as though the bikes saying to me 'come on I want to play!' Fitting the kit is a bit of a faff, but it's worth it. As already said, windblast is more noticeable, but not overly so.

Pity the kit doesn't come with a longer clutch cable as the original really is too short no matter how you route it. I'll probably try one from a DL650 V-Strom. You can liberate a bit more wiring by disconnecting the block connectors in front of the air box and un-looping cable from around the frame before re-connecting. I did this but it then means moving the horn.

Phil (specialone) fitted one to his bike and he managed to get round the problems with a bit of re-routing etc. First time I have heard of the clutch cable being an issue however?
