Re: Gerry Rafferty and Mick Karn have died
Ok so like many i agree Gerry made several excellent records. However his so called genius peaked OVER 30 years ago. he has spent the majority of the years since pickling his liver. It's a shame when anyone dies, but i find it hard to go overboard with sympathy for him.

Re: Gerry Rafferty and Mick Karn have died
Japan were so ahead of their time- especially Talking Drum Lp - go n download it now you under 30s, also Gentlemen Take Polaroids & Quiet Life...
remember seeing them do Ghosts on TOTP - wow , almost Bowiesque , and they would have loved that comparison....;) as for Karns solo stuff - i dk it, can you give us some pointers? is it like Sylvians? RIP both... |
Re: Gerry Rafferty and Mick Karn have died
I have to say its way different to sylvians melodic swooning e.g "brilliant trees" or the utterly excellent "everything and nothing"
its more experimental....and he moves away from his usual fretless bass and tries lots of different instruments try "Titles" from the 80's sounded great at the time but now sadly dated, however you get the idea how he tried alternate sounds, if you wanna go down the autherntic solo bass route then try "Dreams of reason" :) enjoy |
Re: Gerry Rafferty and Mick Karn have died
Spot on Peg:thumleft:. Also check Buoy on Dreams of reason. The vocals where done by Sylvian. A lovely lovely track, one of there best.
