Re: Holiday car hire

Lenny, make sure if you haven't already, compare them for everything, cos some of the fly drives to Florida don't include full insurance so you either have to pay a daily insurance of over £30 per day depending on car or a huge deposit up front, it's caught so many people out.

I got car hire all in cheaper over here when Ive been to Florida (3 times) than just what they wanted for insurance.

When I have car hire in Europe, I have always got it over here beforehand, they then normally offer you a one off payment when you pick the car up of about €30 which waives the excess as well, which I always take out.

So if you know of any nice things to see on the way that will also be good too :D

My family are all in the south and i have only ever taken weekend trips by plane to places like Milan, Florence, Venice etc up towards the north. So i can not really recommend anywhere but i assume you will be visiting Florence and Pisa at least?

We decided we are driving to southern Italy from UK for the first time this summer so that we can get to see some more of the north. Will be going through Alps and staying at Lake Como which is an hour north of Milan. Meant to be beautiful area but you will have enough to see in Tuscany i am sure. On the way back up we are staying in Siena for a few nights as meant to be a lovely city.

I am sure you will find plenty to see when searching google or maybe a decent guide book might be handy :)
