Re: Germany
Tim, that road looks pretty cool. Do you know if that site is translated? A-level German was 1979...

Re: Germany
Hit it mid September and there will be lots of Oktoberfests along it, much less commercial than the Munich one too. But better check before heading off, I can just remember seeing them all in the fields on bench tables.

Re: Germany
PS the alpenstrasse is signposted along most of its route, so it's pretty easy to navigate.

Re: Germany
Nice, shame it's a bit too far for me. Only got 5 days.

Re: Germany
Zap - thank you:D I've emailed them to ask if they have an English tranlation, I can manage the basic stuff but the really long compound nouns defeat me...
On the link you posted, I like: 'From Lindau, the road runs northeast into the Allgäu, climbing steadily with many bends... From Sonthofen, the road runs east via Hindelang and the winding Jochstrasse to the winter sports resort of Oberjoch...' It sounds terrific fun, esp in mid September:drink: |
Re: Germany
...and I now have non-objection to going... Möchte jemand mitkommen?/anyone wanna come with? Camping, meine Freunde:D

Re: Germany
I've been trying to find out more about the German Alpine Highway. It's quite difficult to find out that much, I found this on the net:
http://www.picnixgallery.co.uk/The%2...ine%20Road.pdf this is written from a car driver's perspective. The road sounds good, the roads off it sound even better. And, I have some stuff from the Bavarian Tourist Info place in Munich. PM me with your email addy if you'd like to see it. |
Re: Germany
Thanks Ed!, does the tourist info cover the black forest area? Think that's as far as we'll be going this time.
