I've applied for a job picking veg and I applied for a job in a chicken processing factory. I got turned down from both jobs for being over qualified.

No, all it means is that if someone from outside europe wants to migrate to the UK then if their sole qualification is an ability to cook a good biryani then that's unlikely to be of sufficient merit to get them a visa. Doesn't mean that your takeaway *must* be cooked by a european nor is it likely to affect current residents.

On a similar vein I did find it hilarious how the Daily Mail was complaining that British ski instructors were struggling to get jobs in France because the French were preferring French candidates *and* even insisting that candidates were able to speak French! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...nstructor.html

I'm just glad to know the Daily Mail stands up for the rights of immigrants who can take local jobs and can't even speak the local language.
