Tracing all the wires from the switch, it looks like the Grey wire brings 12v to the Brown when the ignition is on and the light switch is on. Putting the ignition switch to P brings 12v straight to the Brown direct from the Red 'permanent' live. As I see it, you should be able to disconnect the Grey and Brown from the switch and bridge them. This would allow the front side light and rear lights to come on when the light switch was on, but not with the ignition in P. Obviously, you will need to satisfy yourself of this before trying it, and make sure all loose/cut ends of wire are properly insulated afterwards. edit: this would only apply to curvies, pointy wiring is different iirc When all is said and done, the best method is Quote:

Re: Disable parking light
Let me know how you get on!
I can't be bothered to butcher my bike for this, especially being an ametuer at wiring I'm more likely to **** it up if I do it myself without guidance. I really just wanted to know if there was a quick and easy way to sort it, otherwise I'll just leave it. However if beab wants to volunteer info, I'm not going to complain ;) |
Re: Disable parking light
you do of course realize it's an MOT failure and technically it could void anything but third party on your insurance :smt102
Cheers Mark. |
Re: Disabling parking light?
Hadn't realized that, so post edited.
I had done that mod on a previous bike, and then used the switched live in the P position to power a basic alarm. My mechanic / MOT tester at the time said it was a good idea, ah well |
Re: Disabling parking light?
I will never use the thing so insurance is a non issue here.

Re: Disabling parking light?
My MOT guy didnt even check the parking light last time.
However, good point and worth bearing in mind! |
Re: Disabling parking light?
Ok done it, and tested.
As above, pull the grey and brown terminals from the green block and connect them together. To free the terminals Use a nail or something to pull the small green tabs inside back whilsts pulling at the terminals . All completely reversable, nothing cut. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...CIMG0016-1.jpghttp://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...e/CIMG0014.jpg |
Re: Disabling parking light?
Well done mate, thanks!
I reckon I'll be doing that, looks simple enough even for me ;) come MOT time I can simply hook it back up if needed. |
