Not good matey----compared to the childhood I had in Scotland as a kid I genuinely feel for parents today and the lack of freedom that you can allow your kids.
One instance when I can reflect and say "Good old days"

No point continuing to wind yourself up or be too hard on yourself- easier to say though...

At least you've done something about it- if you haven't already, it may be worth having a word with as many neighbours as you can so they can keep their eyes open too...
