Hell no

I know guys that bought TL's new and are keeping them.
TL's are wayward if you start taking the p*** (but that goes for most of the big bore sports twins).

There a good bit on the big twins in July's Ride mag about people riding them wrong

Abrupt and to the point, I like it. I thought they were renowned for being hard to handle and unpredictable. And thats why Suzuki ended them and brought in the much more user friendly SV?

Some have stability issues, but then again so do some GSXRs, hell fire my GPZ500S could throw an evil slapper if you really really prodded it!
The owners don't help the reputation due to the machismo of owning "teh widow maker"

They had more power than the suspension could deal with at the time, sort that out and you've got a litre twin that handles as well as any other litre twin and better than most. Whether that's any better than an SV1000 with the same money spent on it is pretty much academic as it will come down to how good you are at twiddling adjusters.

My opinion on matter is you won't get a so-called "better" (yeah right, just bigger) bike like a GSXR750 or an SV1000 to have the same light handling toy feeling of the 650, and think tuning them makes perfect sense. But of course go ride other stuff and see if one will suit you.

I've ridden all sorts and given the choice I'd have a 650 tuned up to 90bhp and stick with it.

So how do you take a 70 bhp bike up to 90 bhp?

Pour £20 notes down airbox

Not to sound like too much of a patronising c*** but instead of asking questions why not go do some research, there is masses of material on here, svrider, BARF, WERA racing forums, TWF racing etc. What it sounds like you have is idle curiosity which should be sated by reading and learning then possibly doing, you'll learn a hell of a lot more random sh*t which will come in handy too.
