Nice work Ed! I've helped out making a couple of these with old railway sleepers, we never lined them though but then sleepers are a bit more hardwearing I guess. That soil looks crap though, not that I'm an expert, I assume you'll be finding some nice stuff to add to it, maybe your own compost? ;-)

Railway sleepers - not the drunks who miss the last train? LOL They're OK for flower beds but deffo NOT for veggies as the railway people preserve them with creosote!!! And the ones at Shrewsbury station, eeyuk I wouldn't even touch em, they're covered in heavy oil, so bad that where the station goes over a bridge over the Severn, oily water was dripping into the river. So the Environment Agency made Network Rail put some lining down on the track, and now that's covered in oil too.

The soil - awful, thin and doesn't hold any water, so I'm getting a delivery of topsoil and mixing it in with horsey poo from the local riding stables. I'm hoping that darylB's horse will contribute:D

good effort on cutting into the ground, Id have just profiled another plank and ripped it with a circular saw to make up the levels! :-)

I have some to do as well.. but they are coming after an extension so a little while to go yet...!
