I like these, I was very tempted by one of these when I got my sv, dealer had one in same colours, just think I might've bought that and not joined the org, how would you lot have coped?


I would've got a triumph personally but it's a nice looking bike all the same, new can is an emergency, it will improve everything.

looks good. i like the fact it came with the most useful thing (a centre stand) the things i could do with my bike if it was fitting with one as standard.


i just got myself insured on cbr (inline 4) and its the weirdest thing ever having to always rev the nuts of it to make it work.

Not sure why some of you think it's a girl's bike - my wife can barely touch the floor on it and she's no shortarse. It's also quite lardy (especially compared to the SV) so Lady Poppy refused to go for a spin on it even though she's still on the insurance.

The revs are simply something I got used to within half an hour. For trundling about in traffic I kept finding myself in 6th at 40mph with no judder or problems, and it just smoothly accellerated from that point up without changing down. Making more rapid progress needed a bit more right hand from a lower gear but not a lot more. The blandness and all-revs-and-no-go is a misconception. It's also far more rapid than the SV in midrange and in top speed when you go for it, although I do miss that v-twin punch out of the corners.

It's longer and heavier than the SV making it more stable. The fairing is better than the SV and the seating is very comfy and upright making longer journeys a doddle. I would suggest it's a good bike for a novice as it's gentle but it's also good for those of us who want a gentle and smooth ride now we're not as young as we used to be. It's not quite a middle aged biker machine but it's heading in that direction, which suits my riding style just fine.

The centre stand (a dealer fit accesory) rather restricts my exhaust options. The standard slip on has the bump stop for the stand attached to it so replacing it will need a bodged replacement. The stand is so handy though - no more faffing about with a padock stand.

A good choice Sir Trev. I service a few of these on a regular basis, & they seem pretty reliable. Apart from the front calipers which need regular cleaning. (Don't they all).

When I fitted an exhaust to a friends bandit 600 the link pipe had the bracket for the centerstand already welded to it, if the bike had one then I would have simply fitted the rubber buffer to the new link pipe.

Very Nice choice though, I have had a brief ride on one and it felt very comfortable and easy to handle at low speeds too, easier than my Triumph.
Now to convince john to swap bikes with me for a bit on the next big ridout...
GSX650F for a Daytona 650... Bet he refuses.

The 650 Bandit comes with a centre stand but it's an option on the F (so many odd little differences). Probably means I'll look for a Bandit slip on if I ever need one but I'll stick to standard for now.
