Really enjoyed Technical Lego when I was growing up - bit more basic than the Technics stuff you make such a good job with Jayne. See the first two on this link - I had both the tractor (851) and forklift (850). Happy days.

A Doctor friend of mine was recently given one of the very first sets that came with pneumatics. It is very old and very dusty, also the pump is broken, but I can repair it for her so that she can play with it too.

Lego is great stuff for kids too, I spent some time recently playing technic lego with a child who has a mild learning disability, he may not be able to communicate too well about how he is feeling, but he loves building gearboxes and it makes him feel more accepted when he can discuss things as an equal. That is a gift that never stops giving.

I am such a nerd. :thumright:

No sadly not, it is this one

There have been a couple of duds released of late in the Technic range and they have been a little disappointing. The latest version of the Kart for example is a bit duff. It does have a gear box and lots of pretty panels, but the functional elements are actually pretty poor. One case in point is the motorbike that was released in 2015. It is clearly modeled on a VFR, given the V4 engine, but the model is actually pretty boring. What makes it worse is that in 2010 they released what is in effect a Lego Street triple and it was fabulous. This is now trading for silly money on e-Bay if you can find an unopened box. :smt103
