Theres also a Hein Gericke Screen available, CS 5, strange little thing but doesnt look outsized and deflects wind well apprently. Vltn3 keeps reccomending the Fabbri screen and he seems to have no problems at 80+ so.......

None of these are more then £30-40 max, the Givi ones are about 70 quid but really cant justify these prices

Oh, fabbri fly screens. No ideas, then, ignore my post.

My alarm is fine. I have a meta v2. I got a discount on the insurance because of it.

It's only slightly irritating when it goes off after I turn the key without disarming it first.

I had a Datatool System 3 put on mine from new - the dealer I bought from did a good price if I got it fitted before collection. Think it was approx £250.

Have only had one problem with a blown fuse, but apart from than no issues.

The other five mates of mine that all have it fitted have had no issues. Also does reduce the insurance by a fair few quid!

I really wouldn't bother! Bikes are stolen for parts, not to be put back on the road. Alarmed bikes are stolen all the time, and the immobiliser will make not difference once a bike is in bits!

Also, keep in mind that naked bikes are generally not targets for theives, as the machines are often stolen for farings. Also, SV's are quite big and heavy, and have gears - unlike scooters, which are often stolen by kids!

Save your money, save yourself the hassle of it going off at inconvenient times, and draining your battery... invest in a good heavy duty lock and chain... for the same money, you could probably buy two!

At the end of the day, SV's are cheap bikes, and are rarely stolen. I would only get one, if the difference in policy prices between having one and not, coverred the cost of fitting it. And only then, once I'd ensured that it was the best quote.

Welcome by the way ;)

I have a Fabbri screen on my curvy and I think it looks good, its excellent at deflecting wind up to as fast as the old girl would take me! :D

Agreed. The fabbri screen does not look to bad but that machine does have a different look to a Blue & Silver SV. The screen I've seen (not attached to a bike) was a dark clear blue that I dont think would suit the look of the bike (although I still have not actually seen one attached)

It's quite a difficult thing to choose as there is not a "showroom" to browse.

Does anyone know if Pyarmid Plastics, Hein Gericke or Motohaus actually make screens specifically for the SV650 so that it fits exactly without any adaption?

dont worry about keeping the revs below 5k    ,

youll probably get rid of it before the engine goes

as far as i understand its worse for a new engine to be towing with too little revs that it is to scream its ball off

the higher revs will get oil into all the little hard to reach places too so that cant be bad..

nah disregard all that , take it easy till 600 miles and then give it the big licks... the time will go faster than you think, i think.

thinknig on though do the minitwins boys run the bikes in?, ive seen that a lot of them are using brandnew bikes for racing that havent been on the road before.. how bad would that be racing below 5k just so you dont kill the engine.....

Additionally, what's peoples view on what colour tank protector to get on a blue/silver frame K4 sv650?

Here's a (badly scanned) pic of my blue curvey showing my Skidmarx bug screen.
