You know, I'd happily trade 10 bhp for Gixxer suspension.

Let's shout it a bit louder so they hear.

Better brakes. Need to be more powerful and have pins that don't bloody seize bloody in bloody the bloody calipers bloody.
Adjustable suspension, both preload and damping. Basically this is a budget bike. Some of the above comments seem to forget this. If you want better, you generally have to pay for it. |
Better wind (weather) protection on the S model, better and less grabby front brakes, slightly lower profile with a few kilos shaved off here and there (that'll increase the power/weight ratio without capacity increase and thus less insurance hike) and for those that want it and can afford to pay for them as an "extra" better suspension with FULL adjustment front and rear and of course: a la Buelle - an undersling exhaust - which will also lower the centre of gravity on the bike.
Colours are a must as are Usd forks and how about a hydraulic clutch eh? Oh, and shift that bloody awful rear "spade" and brake light into the nearest bin. How about if Mr. Suzuki????? |
To those of you asking for more horses or cubes (or indeed any of you who might be tempted to go the 'Big Bore' "shorten the engine life" route) - why not just trade your 650 in for a 1000 ??

Better suspension would be my thing too... wouldn't be as expensive as you'd think. SVs could probably use the exact same items fitted to the GSXRs, which would have Suzuki a serious economy of sale saving from inventory and supply chain savings. Wouldn't just extend to the forks either, they could probably use the same yokes, brakes, wheels and discs too. They did this quite effectively on the SV thou but with different forks, it's just one step further. I wouldn't go for more power. The SV doesn't need it, and it'd actually work against them since it'd hurt them in the beginner's bike market. I would like to see better tunability though- a crank that can take a decent amount of top end work, mainly. That's a slightly infuriating limitation for the home modder. Big brake improvements would be the same- sharp brakes on a beginner bike are IMO not a good idea. The SV's are decent but the servicing issues of them are annoying. Standard GSXR calipers (ie pre radials) would be a good compromise IMO, but we definately don't need radials. then again, that would count against the economies of scale from the front end since I think all the GSXRs now have radials? Build quality improvements are obvious, and again wouldn't have to be substantially more expensive. Paintwork, for instance, doesn't cost massively more to do right- the basic costs aren't massively different whether you do a thin, fragile finish or a good solid one. Ask Honda... using better fasteners all over combined with this would add maybe £100, £200 tops. to the street price of the bike, I'd suspect, but could easily add more to the resale value. |
I'd like another 30 miles in the tank, better mirrors... and I hate seeing that bare casting that makes up the ign switch!
Oh, and a hugger! RR |
totally impractical but... single sided swingarm

stick a TL engine in it and sort out the kinks (more power basically)
Definately USD forks four pots, wave discs BETTER PAINT a speedo that shows the right speed harder rear shock TRICK |
