When riding the bike I can usually feel if the tyres are wrong pressure...I'm that good

 GUILTY  ive never checked mine!

jenni 14-11-05 05:50 PM

kwar pleas do before you ride next time, I have been putting doing mine for weeks and they were miles out, no wonder i was picking up **** on the rear tyre

rob13 14-11-05 05:52 PM

check mine quite regularly and find that i get the same readings with both of my analog push gauges. If i use the gauge on the compressor i dont get a true reading

kwak zzr 14-11-05 05:59 PM

will do jenni, did have a puncture about 5weeks ago maybe that had something to do with it?

jenni 14-11-05 06:07 PM

often its just one of those things but remember that test question....

what are the implications of having under inflated tyres?

You are more likely to pick something up and I know I don't wanna fork out for new tyres just yet

One of them a digital Motrax tyre pressure gauge. Anyway today I check the pressures and I get 19 and 25 PSI. Checking with my trusty pen gauge I get 32 and 36 PSI. Stupid digital thing is so far out as to make it quite bloody dangerous!
You cannot put your faith in any digital measuring device that doesn't come with a calibration certificate.

have you actually considered you may just have a faulty one?

just a thought before you get everyone to dump using theirs and get sued by motrax :D

If anybody else has one they should check it against a reliable measurement. I never said they were all crap, neither did I advocate litigation against Motrax.

I have a calibrated analogue gauge, used for checking expansion vessels, my pen gauge is always within 1 PSI of this.

As for garage gauges they're never checked. I hardly use them, I use a manual pump to top up my tyres. Checking with my gauge which I usually carry with me on the bike, along with all the other crap squeezed under my seat hump.

go back, reread the post and you will see neither did I say that.

Saying Motrax gauges are "dangerous freebies" on the other hand could see them litigate against this site which is what I was saying - and while you may not be advocating they are all crap that is exactly how it came across with that thread title and first post.

and the smiley was a little indication I wasnt entirely serious.

How was I supposed to know you had a sense of humour?
Never seen any evidence of it before.....
