This is the thing. I used to race bicycles. My weekly routine was 5x5 hour spins, and one race. This added up to about 30 hours a week in the saddle. This saddle was basically rock hard, and there was no suspension on the bike, on Irish back roads, on tyres pumped up to about 100psi.
And, I never ever got a sore ****. I drive for a couple of hours on my SV now, and me **** is in bits. So whats the story? Peter Henry is right... its about design. Not gel nesesarily, but good design. Sitting on a flat surface is bad, you need to sit on something that supports your pubic bones. Like a road bike saddle does. If you do this, you take pressure of everything else, including, very importantly, the blood vessels leading to your private parts. This is no joke amigos. You cut off the blood to the old chap for long enough, he gets more than shriveled. He gets grumpy. I dont know what to say about which saddle supports you well... bit pubic bone suport is the key in ingrediant. Oh yeah. If some chick is going to sit on the back of your bike, for 120 m/day marry here dude. Just straight out marry her. Top notch. |
wardy lad, ever thought of trying an AirHawk inflatable seat, they do them in various sizes for front/pillion seats
the only thing is that they are extremely "knickable" so best to deflate and take it with you when you park up the bike have got one that I use on my Sportster, its a godsend and can do 250-300 miles a day no probs, can be as soft/hard as you want to make it I got it for medical reasons (since 33% of me @rse tissue has been surgically removed over the last 3 years  ) as its really painfull for me to be sat upright although with the ride position on the SV, I dont have a problem with the pain as your kinda leant forward over the tank was 137 quid delivered from Busters - well worth the money |
All usefull stuff cheers all.
