Not since I glommed it with silicon grease. Plug doesn't rust either. It's good enough to cross rivers now (no joke).
have got a k3 and have ridden it in the worst rain the spring and autum has to offer and its never had a problem - touch wood
Only problem I have had is in freezing fog last month on the M4 - lost all power under 5K revs, which I think may be due to carb icing (& I have got a fender extender)
Never had any problems with mine in the wet and I havent got fender extender fitted, do give it a good spray of wd40 now and again.
Happened to me at the weekend, getting a fender extender tomorrow :p
 mine works fine
I think it might be where you live, in London they grit the roads which gets into the drain hole on the front cylinder and once blocked it lets water build up till the front cylinder not firing is a pig I can tell you. Its even more fun when the thing kicks back in again
But I've had problem since fitting the fenser extender nearly 2 years ago so buy one they aint that dear and if it stops front cylinder blues its worth every penny. H |
Broken record time... A tube of Servisol high-temp, non-conductive silicon grease from Maplin costs £3.99. It takes maybe half an hour tops to apply to an already-fitted plug, but after that takes effectively no time at all as you can do it as the same time as the plug change, Each application is- in my experience- effective for as long as the plug lasts, which means that that £3.99 tube should be good for 20, 25 new plugs. Compare that to the price of the extendas- and it's actually more effective as well as invisible (my front plug still rusted up with the extenda, with the grease it's pristine after 3000 miles)
Not to say there's not good arguments for the extenda- it does help keep rubbish off the front of your bike, which is definately worthy for a winter machine. |
I know how you feel Northwind :(
I've been telling people for 5 years that the plug just needs some electrical grease smeared on it. Definitley no need for an extenda |
Had problems, fitted a fender extenda, then no probs at all ;) Well worth the 15 quid or so...
I wrote to Suzuki & they said that 'they'd never heard of SV's having this problem,' so obviously they are lying buggers IMHO (of course!) |
