I don't see anything wrong with valentines day, however it doesn't mean that you have to spend a lot of money on it.
If you are affraid your girlfriend / boyfriend is going to like you less because you don't spend 600 quid on presents and whatnot, then you have a rubbish girlfriend / boyfriend (or maby both, but thats a different kettle of fish).
