Bloody awful, those things. Mityvac does the job far better, and without the bodging.

You could try pushing the pistons in the calipers all the way back and re blead, that way it may dislodge any air that could have become trapped behind the piston, it also has less of a chamber to have oil in and so its much quicker.
I find tapping the calipers with the end of a screwdriver while bleeding helps moving air bubbles out. I did my new calipers in about 5 mins the way i discribed. |

I can do it... But it always works like this. Basically, I repeat the process over and over endlessly and nothing happens, then it suddenly works without changing anything. Or it works first time. Or it just doesn't work for ages... All using the typiacl bit of clear hose, squeeze and bleed technique. Drives me insane, I wouldn't mind if it either worked or didn't but when it doesn't work for ages then suddenly works it's maddening.
Honestly, the hardest bit of teh front end swap for me was bleeding the *(^&ing brakes. |
Tie the brake leaver to the grip, leave overnight. Rinse and repeat...

The squiddly one insists they are not essential, well no they're not, but I've never had any issues getting properly bled brakes on anything first go in only a few minutes using one. How essential does it have to be to avoid all the hassles some folks seem to have getting a properly bled system? That's what tools are for, making life easier :thumbsup: A good advantage of the mityvac is that you can empty out the reservoir first before adding any new fluid, avoiding mixing old/new or risking getting air in when pumping low. Yes there are other ways of emptying a reservoir without one, but it's easy with it. You pays your money................. :lol: |
