My dad used to have an old Velocette. He brazed over a crack in his tank, worked a treat. Have you considered getting it welded or brazed. If its underneath a rough paint over won't notice. If it's near the edge then you will have to respray the whole tank. Would probably work out cheaper than a new tank.
