One thing to also consider is vehicle depreciation. The financial depreciation clock starts from when the vehicle is registered. So if you bought a pre-reg'd bike that had been registered a year ago you have already lost a years worth of depreciation, despite the fact that the vehicle maybe new and have 0 miles. This is why most pre-reg's bikes 'seem' cheaper but in essence you are still paying full whack for what the bike is 'physically' worth. If you plan on keeping it mind, it can be worthwhile and it is not such an issue with non-commercial vehicles but will still have a monetary impact when you come to sell. Every time there is a plate change the value of the previous plate model decreases. My friend bought a pre reg'd Zed1000 for £6k this year, it was registered on an '05 plate. He is now selling the bike and it is considered a 1 year old bike despite that he has had it only 3 months from new. Can you tell I work in Fleet planning!? :?
