I orignally had a cople of nuts on the blot between the horn and the rad and that worked but then I had somone hit me and bend my rad, when the new one went on I didn't seem to have enough room to do the same again so i just gave up and bent it. I think it is because they put a K4 rad on my K3.

So it's not just mine that's "shy" then. Strangely, it seems to work whenever I test to see if it works, but clams up when I need it. My dealer has ordered a new one under warranty, but it sounde like this may not solve it...

I'll keep you posted.

I agree here. If you pull over to the side and try it, you can hear it click so the switch is delivering juice OK. Think the unit expands and binds. Bin it and get something less sensitive - and LOUDER!

Garry, you've described it perfectly.

Our dealer isn't keen to swap the horn until it plays up for him, even though it's under warrenty.

OK, so what are the thoughts on what to replace it with? And do they require re-wiring, or is it a straight swap of the horn itself?

i used to ride an old 6v DR400 into london, horn was crap, until...............
i taped an air horn to the bars
used to scare the crap outa people when they cut you up as they would think they`ed pulled out on an artic (lorry not roll! )
got through the MOT as well, mind u that was 20 years ago.
try one, you`ll love it :)

See, what I'm thinking is instead of a horn, strapping a small catapult (about the size that could be used to launch a rabid, half starved weasel) to the bars instead. I'm sure it could be initiated from the same button, not sure where I'd keep a spare supply of weasels tho...

Whats the legality of these? Do they fit to the orignal wiring loom without melting the conductors? How loud is loud?

Quite fancy one, may be good in an emergency and will **** a few people up when required!

i fitted the twin fiamm horns to my sv you need to wire them in with a relay but it's really easy (i can do it so it must be)

you can buy a kit which contains 1 high tone horn 1 low tone and a relay for £15 from halfwits

there are fittng instructions on the forum somewhere
