This is exactly why i never like to have my lid out of sight or out my hands. Friday nights in soho are the wrost cos any drunken fool with no intention of nicking my bike may take a fancy to my lid and wander off with it. Then what am i gonna do?

Hope your mate gets these *******s found and locked up.

Im curious... would a recovery service (such as AA) take a stolen lid as a valid reason for recovery?

Tbh, my pikey-meter would have tripped as soon as they asked that question.

I would have responded with something like, "oh its not mine I'm borrowing it from my friend. Its a bit scary though, he works for the government so if I dropped it he'd probably have me killed".

Disconnect a couple of main wires etc   . Saves you having a long and maybe pointless conversation.

Cheers
Ben

Depending on who comes out they will try quite hard. My 250 broke down 10 miles into a 160 miles trip one grey day fifteen years ago with a reg/rec failure. The guy wanted to take me 25 miles in the wrong direction back to his workshop where he actually had a spare  until I pointed out my EZ model had a different unit to the more common EX/ET version. He reluctantly agreed to just transport it and as he was the sole agent on duty in the area at the time Norfolk/Suffolk had no roadside bike service from the RAC for the rest of the night until he got back!

In this case I hope the publican was helpful enough to lock the bike away out of site.
