Isn't that their responsibility to do a proper search until they get a balanced view or a view of someone they know and respect? Probably not me then

At the end of the day yes it is. But I feel you must still take some responsibility to a make sure that anything you post regarding technical matters is reasonably correct and based on fact and not based on reading a few posts on an internet forum.

However some people believe everthing they read even if its wrong. Posted by somebody who has a big post count. Or posted by somebody who has strong opinion.

Now personally I'm of the opinion that when people think Bungs then think R & G. I know I do. However I think that I can count on the fingers of two hands the number of people on here who arent happy with them. Surely if R & G's were cr*p ( your words not mine ) then surely you'd here a damn site more about this problem than you do. However I would suspect that this particular problem is SV related rather than a problem with ever single type of R & G bung. If I compare the two types of bung on my GSXR with the SV they are different so maybe thats what the problem is. I'm not sure. I've not been unfortunate enough to have to test them and I don't intend testing them either. But even if an R & G does snap I would 100% wager that its still going to give you more protection than having no bung does.

Notice who Northwind never says R & G's are cr*p he points out what the problems hes had and how the motosliders bung are different and why he thinks they are better. He's able to explain why he thinks that they are like this. Whereas IMHO you've just said they're cr*p without backing it up.

At the end of the day you pays your money you takes your choice. I just dont like people who ram their opinion down my throat.

As always IMHO.

Umh.. Suzuki bungs. My girlfriend had those on her K5 the actual brackets bent in a low speed 15mph max and then the bungs twisted and split the lowers and made a right mess.

If the bungs hadnt been there we both think that the damage would have been much less to her bike.

When I bought my GSXR the manager in the dealer refused to let me take the bike away with them on. He said "They are ****" and hes right IMHO.

Just my 2p's worth.

edit its not the best picture but you can see how the bracket his twisted back allowing the bung to dig into the fairing and split the lowers

Stu, I'd say they're not crap... They're just less good than cheaper options and have an unreasonable fail rate. They're still the best option if it's got to fit around the lowers though.

Now, the original design DHMs, and Suzuki OEM, really are crap, just hopeless pieces of rubbish. And both companies are more than welcome to try and sue me :)

Those Motovation ones are carbon copies of the Motosliders from the looks of 'em... More expensive :) But they might be different up close.

I will take some pickies when i get them. £45 delivered which i think is not that bad considering you dont have to mess around with import postage and taxes.

Yep Suzuki OEM are bad, I had a pic of them when they split along the weald from a static drop. DHM and other similer that fit the the front cylinder mounting bolt seem that they could do serious damage to the frame or engine.

TSM, Where do you get them from can only find the US site.
With import tax am thinking it will be about £45 so could be wasting my time trying to get Motosliders.

Stu 02-08-06 09:46 PM

fizzwheel Thanks for taking the time and effort with me in your reply.
I admit I was hasty - sorry if anyone thinks I was ramming my opinion down their throat.
I guess, other people get away with calling things **** and crap (as a fairly innocuous comment), I'll try to avoid it from now on.
