Villiers asked me how my Blue flame was, and I said hadn't really noticed much difference. Well I went out last night without my earplugs and realised how fantastic it is! Better keep the earplugs in because it makes me ride like a loony

Love a good derail!

I say kill them. Kill them ALL.

Okay now that I have the voices in my head under control for now.............I agree. I am a very amicable person, yet years of people treading on me have made me less tolerant of ignorant types who'm I will now tell to feck off without hesitation. Unless they are much bigger than me.

Quite possibly this is true.

Or else everyone else should mellow out a bit and you should stay exactly as you are.

I know which I'd prefer. Stay nice mate. Occasionally you'll come across other like youself and when you do it makes it all worth while.

In the mean time, rather than attempt to reason with the unreasonable, just smile, silent and sweet and carry on with what you are doing.
If they then do actually shut up and wait for you to speak ask them to approach you again in a civilised manner and you'll discuss whatever they have to say and until then you'll just treat them in a manner you feel they deserve.

i too have kids
we have an open alley next to my house where the local youths tend to frequent of an evening (they must have childrens bedtime radar 'cause they often tend to start hanging around just at the time...which varies when we are putting them to bed)
sometimes when they get rowdy i always first ask politly if they wouldnt mind keeping the noise down.
if i have to ask more than twice, thats when i start loseing my rag which i think is fair enough
most people im affraid dont tend to look at the facts before ranting on..and i think its this instant agression that causes the less pleasant yob to get violent

the best thing to do is to just smile politely whilst cursing them under your breath

I guess we must be fairly lucky with our neighbours. Not only have none of them ever complained about the noise the bike makes, but they do try to park considerately so that we can get the bike out of the house :D

I've also found that if I'm cleaning the bike outside, most will stop and chat for a while, even the elderley asian lady who speaks very little English. Her husband always chats too, wanting to know where we've been and what we've been doing.

I always try to to live by the 'do as you would be done by' rule, but it isn't easy sometimes. In those situations I really try not to lower myself to other people's standards and just walk away. Maybe that's because I firmly believe that whatever harm you do to others comes back at you threefold :D
