I found the SV left me exhausted when I first had it and started doing more miles. I think its a case as others have said of time on the bike. I know find that riding for myself and my own speed I don't get tired. I certainly don't feel stiff when I get off either bike. Maybe I have just found bikes that suit me and my riding style.
I find that riding long distances in sh*tty weather conditions, does leave me alot more tired. But not physically tired more mentally tired due to the extra concentration required. I think out of the two I prefer the GSXR for distance work. Its for me more comfortable than the SV, well the seat definately is anyway. Also its easier to make progress on it and I dont have to rag the bike as much as it has plenty more in reserve than the SV does. Also at night the headlights are brilliant on it which helps to. |
the only thing that suffers on my sv is me man bits

I havent done any mental trips on my bike, but the longish ones that I have done I like to swap bikes with the lad I am with. Normally a BWM 1150GS, and he gets on my ickle SV. (He is always absolutely flogs it, and is cracking up laughing when he gets off it. I sort of coast along on his yoke like fekking Aladin on a magic carpet or something.)
And then we clock a few more miles. And swap back. Like, me **** still hurts a bit, but I know it will, so I sort of try to pre-emtively move about on the bike, keeping wieight off any specific area as much as possible, especially my tail bone. I keep as forward as possible. I also have fairly heavy quads in my legs from cycling. I can sort of flex them and pump the stale blood out of my legs and that actually makes things a lot better. You dont get that sort of restless or crampy feeling. The bit that gets me though is the spacey thing that happens. Like, on the twisties you just end up going really fast, cause you are too lazy to brake or something. All you are thinking about is lines, and not having anything in front of you. I dunno. Thats the bit that is a bit scary when you are back home thinking about the day. |

All because I was tired and not looking down the road properly. What an @rse! |
Some good points here!
What I was trying to do was 300 miles at the rush which isn't a good idea. Had to have a few petrol stops and comfort breaks natch. Carrying luggage and back pack too so that added weight and discomfort. Easy to do 300 miles if doing it in 10 hours or so. Maybe the moral of this story is to take your time and listen to what your bod is telling you. Riding tired or with brain fade is a bad idea all round IMHO. |

My left shoulder starts to hurt/ache after a 50-60miles on the bike now.
Did the bike 440 route last year while only stopping for fuel 3 times (kinda stupid, should have got my map stamped by the dealers for a free t-shirt). Dropped my bike at the last fuel stop due to tiredness, my legs going numb and not being able to put the sidestand down properly. |
