Cheers guys.

Looks like its either £150 to get bike restricted with a certificate or i bodge it myself. Then in July 2007 have restrictors removed and woooooohoooooo!!!

I been told i need to get same dealer to remove restrictors and have bike taken off the database.

well the certificate may look better than my 10m swim certificate ;)

just need a bike now :P

Hi There

Ive just restricted my bike after passing my test, I got the washers from this forum, then had the bike dyno'd. My insurance company (bennetts) were ok with this, they didnt even want to see the printout, I just keep it under my seat with the bat just incase

Jimbo_Bimbo 09-10-06 10:47 PM

Cheers mate.

I'm with Bennetts too, and they've told me that they dont need certificates or anything for restriction.

How easy was it to fit the restrictors and how much did you pay for them?:)

Do i really need to get it dyno'd? How much did that cost? So long as the police dont pull me for anything i wont have to prove its restricted...yes?

Am i begining to sound like a miser?;)

Hi Mate

I payed nowt for my washers, a forum member whose "time was up" kindly sent them to me for nowt. As far as fitting is conceared, lift the tank, pull airbox off, loosen the two clamps to release the carbs, pull them up, put washers in and put it back togather again.

As for the dyno print out, I got one done to cover my back just incase, it cost me a tenner from a local dynojet centre near newcastle. Although it isnt necessary, as your insurer doesnt require one, just incase the dibble pull you over (like they did with me), you have a leg to stand on.

Hope this helps.

thanks all for the info!! i'm in the 33bhp restriction group too.

there isn't any way the police can tell if u havn't got it restricted is there? other than you ragging it around at top speed a lot, or them putting it on a dyno?!

obviously this isn't technically leagal!! but there isn't any way the police can tell is there? other than you ragging it around at top speed a lot, or them putting it on a dyno?!

First off...a note for all young riders...I don't want to appear to be over cautious but announcing you are riding an unrestricted bike is NOT a clever thing to do. Any of the members here could work for the traffic police and it wouldn't be too hard to find out where you live should they want further information.

Asides from that...the police can inspect the vehicle by the roadside, yes. The get out of jail card here is that you can ask for a "deferred inspection" at a time more suitable to you (allowing you to restrict it again). Quite if you are legally entitled to demand this, I don't know. It's a very grey area it would seem and the police would seem to be as uninformed as the public are.

Please can we not turn this into another argument on restricted bikes etc, do a search on the forum if you want them, there are more than enough. It is not wise bragging about your bike being unrestricted on a restricted license, please have some sense, it will only attract attention and cause more arguments.

The police may inspect the bike by the side of the road, however I doubt they will get out the spanners, lift the take, take the airbox off and either check for washers or strip the carbs to see if a restrictor kit (slide version) was installed. I have been asked a few times to produce proof of it being restricted, a dyno print out sufficed, it was an old one, and the bike was de restricted. You may however get caught out, then its your problem. Chances are if you do go bragging about it, or ride around like a lunatic, you wont get caught.

Some wise words there!

I want to restrict my bike, cos that's what my licence says i can ride, and it gives me a lower insurance premium.

So has anyone got any 33bhp restrictors for a SV650S X 1999model?

;)

Hi my Sv's getting de-restricted in two sat's time.. so I'll have the kit then if your still wanting one by then?

Let us know when ur restrictors are off. What kind are they? Original Suzukli restrictors?
