They're so well signposted on the ones in that video, anyone who hits them wants banning anyway... It's a no-entry for cars road, there's massive signs everywhere...

Gosh - you learn something new everyday - Ive never ever seen one  :?

are bikes allowed through though?

No. Apparently in Ashford they have cameras like the ones used for the video and while all well and good one way [facing the camera], given its on a two way road, your plate would be read at some point if you used it both ways. Not sure what you'd get but certainly would be some offence for ignoring the no entry for bikes/cars sign.

These are on Cross St in Manchester. They are dangerous, if you don't know the area and are stuck behind a bus or other high vehicle (and hence don't see the signs, as they are beyond the junction) you can easily get caught out.

The first shot of the signs is misleading here - this is the view from the Deansgate end of town. The ones shown in the video are on the other side.

I feel for the drivers of these vehicles. I drive often in strange cities and to find yourself in the wrong lane at a junction is not unknown. If you are behind a bus / van in a queue you will not get advanced sight of the bollards and warnings. The damage they can cause is out of all proportion to the offence of entering a prohibited road. Whoever installs these things should be liable for the damage to genuine unsuspecting drivers

Nah, I don't agree with that at all... I've seen a video taken on the approaches, and I don't believe for a second that they could be completely obscured...
