So did you order a longer chain to take account of the bigger rear sprocket? if so how much bigger? This is on the cards next year for me.....

Nope, two up on the rear sprocket means you keep the standard chain length. If you go down on the front by one tooth, it gives the same effect, but you need a different chain.

The original kit I was looking at was 3140.HA.APX (B&C order code). I then called them up to talk about the altered sprockets, and the nice lady on the phone dealt with changing everything for me, and took payment.

£107.something for the kit with the 46 tooth rear sprocket, as opposed to the standard, including P&P.

I only ever use Tsubaki chain, and a point worth mentioning is that their SG chain is exactly the same as their premium (SGX) chain, except for the fact that it's not gold and has 'o' rings instead of 'x' rings.
This works out at only around £14 more than the APX chain which is the one that you've ordered, and is worth the extra.
There's so much confusion over chains,what with so many manufacturers and so many grades. The general consensus being that 'x' rings are better than 'o' rings, and that gold is better than 'ordinary' etc etc.....I've found that if a chain is maintained properly there's negligible difference is wear rates between 'o' & 'x' ring chains, and I've seen gold chains that I wouldn't fit on a pushbike.
So buy wisely folks, and yes ALWAYS fit new sprockets at the same time.....& on SV's have your cornflakes before attempting to undo that bloody gearbox sprocket nut!!!

Only a husband and wife company, but have used em for ages and they are top people. They recomend Heavy duty Regina X ring chain. Costs 80 quid a throw but lasts a lot longer than other chains...

As to changing the sprockes... I don't do it every time, I just keep an eye on condition, especially the drive end.
