my bike does it time to time. best thing to do is slowly let the clutch out till the bike starts to move.
then pull the cltch in as ya do slap it in N. dont no what makes it happen. sometimes i have prob gettin into 1st when im in N so i slap it into 2nd then 1st. every bike i have had has dun sumin like it now and then. also everytime i wash my bike i spray wd40 in parts that need it brake clutch gear levers etc. |
Fizzwheel maybe on to something, I checked the oil level this morning and it was just above the FULL line, I'll check the service history and see if it says what oil is in it. Anyone know the best oil for this (k3 15000 miles).
thanks all :D |
Hacked off with it now, I've got no decent tools so I can't even get any oil out of it. Birthday next month so I think a socket set will be requested.
Went out for a quick ride this morning, 1st gear down my road turned left onto the main road changed up to 2nd and the rear wheel locked up  . Pulled in the clutch and freewheeled around the corner in to a side road. Engine had stalled. I started it up again and sat there for about 5 minutes think what the hell caused that. I was going about 10-15 mph, dry road, traffic ahead so I didn't give it loads of gas but a change up should have been alright with that. It ain't doing my confidence any good, everytime I change gear or go around a corner I 'm thinking what if the wheel locks up again. Does anyone think this could be related to thewhole "gear lever jamming" problem :?: Thanks JB |
Do you mean locked solid or just the type of thing which you get if you snap down too many gears, for instance what you might get if you thought you were going from 1st to second (at a fair speed) and just snapped the clutch in and out, but for some reason stayed in 1st gear?

Hi Sinbad
As soon as I let the clutch out after the change from 1st to 2nd the rear wheel completely locked, I pulled in the clutch lever and the engine had stalled. When I stopped I checked what gear I was in and it was 2nd. Rode it around for about half an hour and it seemed ok apart from it wouldn't go into neutral once I'd stopped, however I managed it a couple of time by once by slowly applying greater pressure on the shifter and once I reved it and it slipped to neutral as the revs came down.
