£50 for a set of Hotgrips!!!!!!

Sorry to hear of your woes. Throw them back at the company that you got them through. As for the grips, always use hairspary to insatll (Yes really!) they will come off but stick well enough to use.

Has anyone painted the inside of the cbox with acf50? If so did it prevent corrosion?

I agree, that's way too expensive!

Your choices here are to either:
1) Fudge a new controller as many of us have done.
2) Take back to the shop & rely on Sale Of Goods.
3) Complain to the manufacturer about the one year statutory manufacturers grantee (although, they don't have to deal with you about it)

I was about to post the same problem, but you beat me to it! Called in at the dealers last night, tried a new controller and that did the same. I am confident that its wired ok, and there is no way I am taking them bl**dy grips off!

So now what ................ grrrrrrrrrh

Sounds like they might of been fitted a little tight, so there wasn't much play on the wires to the grips. This means that the wire (especially on the throttle grip) gets broken, and because the controller is wired to one grip, then that to the other & back to the controller (IIRC at least), this would mean the whole setup doesn't work.

It's another pretty common problem that I've found with them, but that's no fault of the manufacturer. I also had this problem a while back (but mine was the left grip) & luckily managed to get a new grip to replace it.

Purely speculation as I haven't seen your bike, but that'd be my guess.

are you getting any heat at all?

Tomcat 11-01-07 10:26 AM

Yep getting heat, it seems to be an overload, although we have had the meter on it!

I will explain where I am at so far.... thought it was a controller fault as have heard they are temperamental, but the shop allowed us to try another controller and it did the same thing.

Have turned up the tick over so the bike is running at 13.1+ , everything fine until I break, and indicate....(obviously lights always on!) then the grips go off !? Like I say it seems an electrical overload but why?

Oh the joys

Where is the controller taking power from?

The grips ONLY go off if you brake or indicate? Sounds suspicious to me.

Yes, ONLY when brake AND indicate. The controller is coming from an ignition live, in the fuse box, in a spare terminal next to the thickish orange wire! It is earthed to the battery
:?

i tested the voltage going to the controller and i get 12v, and the controller doesn't 'click' on and off like i think it should do (from seeing someone elses) - but i may be wrong(?). I'm amazed they have so many problems without addresing them.
