If I were buying it I would notice, and at best knock £100 off the asking Price just for that, which would also lead to a far deeper inspection, and at worse I'd walk away on the premise that if you couldn't be bothered to do something that highly visible then what else had you cut corners on ?

Cheers Mark.

Id get it checked just in case its actually cracked the wheel where you cant see it. Just to be sure. Motoliner did Mr Toads wheel when we repaired his SV1000. Did an awesome job too.

If I was selling it with a defect I'd tell you before you noticed it, and say "The wheel's not perfect but it's within the runout and it works- the price already reflects it" :) That's how I sold the Virago- "It needs a new chain and sprocket set at the next service, and the front left fork seal's on its way out. It'll cost you X amount (had a quote from a Yam dealer) to fix but it doesn't need done yet, just figure on it for the next service in 2000 miles. The cost's already off the price, no point in doing it early really".

MMM never done it myself before but i think others have. I doubt a local place to you would charge much to pop it off the rim. Id only charge a drink.

Otherwise let all the air out and if you have access to some tyre levers and cloth to protect the rim, and a bucket of patience it would be possible.

You could cut it off easy, if you don't want to refit it. But getting it off without the gear isn't all that easy. Do you have a friendly dealer? Or car shops can do it too, it's the same process

my mate works at ATS and he said there machines wont do bike wheels :?

Presses might not, actually, he's right... Wasn't thinking there. Some do, it'll just depend on how they grip the wheel.

i think he was concerned about damaging the rim.
