Wouldn't be surprised if you were one of the wheelie-mad, stoppie-pulling speed-freaks.

There, see what you have done, gone and got me all hyphenated now !!!

Thanks,
But I'm not too keen on filesharing as my computer is used for work as well.
Anyone use allofmp3.com? They seem cheap but they are russian-based...

Based in Russia for legal reasons.

Problem is the RIAA etc are closing in on them and trying to get the Russians to change the law/go after them.

So if you need to subscribe, bear in mind they may vanish - if its a pay per track deal, then go for it.

Also Visa and Matercrd will not deal with them anymore.

Baph, some of us would rather buy our music than rip people off. If thats what you choose to do, then good, but dont expect all of us to be the same. I have in the past used illegal download sites, but only to download vinyl that at the time, i had no why of recording to PC.

Can't tell you where to go but I can tell you to avoid Napster, the dirty thieving *******s.

Lured me in with 15 free tracks which they then didn't credit to my account and while I waited a week for customer services to reply my 7 day free trial expired (doh!) and they charged me for a months subscription.

Never had a response to any of my customer support requests or saw the free tracks. Got to be better sites out there.

Alas, sarcasam goes a miss yet again.

Just FYI, if I think something is worth having, I'll buy it, and I'm more than prepared to pay prices in high street shops (which is usually more than online).

If it's worth having, it's worth having the artist work (covers etc) as well as just the music (or video etc etc).

For those reasons, I have no real basis to actually help in the thread, since I don't buy online.

Don't get me wrong, if I'm just curious about something, or just fancy it, then downloading is an option. So is the blockbuster & love films subscriptions I have (rent it, they post it, you watch, then post back).

It's happened a number of times in the past where I've downloaded something that I was curious about, and liked it so much that I actually went out & bought it in the shops. It's also happened that I've downloaded & not bought, which yes, is illegal, but so is speeding folks :)

Maybe a light hearted approach is needed to this element of law breaking, as many of us (including me) do with other laws.

But hey, maybe I'm just a criminal who's clearly in the wrong :)

Re: Where to buy music online?

If I 'buy' any music these days I usually get it on CD via play.com
It works out cheaper to buy an album than to download individual tracks from iTunes, and the quality is much better, ie. not compressed. Also you've got a permanent copy of the track, without any restrictions as to when/where/how you play it. Rip the tracks off the CD onto your PC or MP3 player and you're away. When your PC breaks or MP3 player gets lost, you've still got your music
