Remember reading in the PB mag last season about their exploits on the cannonball run riding a new Kawasaki big fast thing. They ran quite a bit in Europe - dodgy fellows. This month they have a write up on lap timers and beating personal times on the road etc... was a rubbish read though as they seem to have run out of decent subjects - but normally enjoy reading their travel stories and articles. |
Re: running from the police
GF's brother tried to do a runner after being told to stop...
He had a GSXR750 (early 90's) and tried to get away. 4 cars chasing. h got away, hid in a pub for an hour, got back on the bike and went to go home. They were still looking for him though  Caught up and told him "stop or be rammed off" He stopped... Made him sit on the floor, hands on his head etc.. Found out that there had been a major robbery and they thought he was one of the robbers trying to escape (on the way out of maidstone). Talk about wrong place at the wrong time  When asked why he didn't stop, "i just wanted to get home" He's a plonk anyway. He lost his bike license because of that. You may be able to get away in other countries, but over here, the chances are you will get caught. |
Re: running from the police
My younger brother in his bad boys days did a runner from them. At one point he drove through a set of bollards that plod bottled at. No damage to his car yet there was thin orange paint smear on each bollard. so he must have been exactly the right width and perfect positioning.
Trouble was once the helicopter made its presence known. He simply pulled up and waited for them. They were impressed at the way he managed to run 2 blocks. At one he approached it that fast that they pulled the cars out of the way. he described it as the best game of chicken he ever played. OK he was a very naughty boy. And I do not condone what he and his mates did in order to attract the attention of the boys in blue. But he learnt a lesson. The village bobbies in their noddy cars cannot drive. It is no wonder that bad boys are tempted to do runners. BTW he was suitably punished for his crimes. But not a word about his driving. Still he had a year to think about things;) |

Re: running from the police
people run for the most stupid reasons, a rider (with pillion) decided to go for it on Sunday in Standish near Wigan. Three traffic cars and one Helicopter had a bit of a chse for the next 35 minutes or so, the heli just monitring, the cars staying almost out of sight unitl he parked it up at home, looked up and then nearly s**t himself when he saw the bird, followed by the cops walking into his garage.
His reason? He thought he was speeding and already had enough points to get a ban with another ticket. Now, he will get an enormous ban, fine and have to take a lengthly re-test. |
