Re: Quietest helmet???
The S1 is very quiet. I've done a lot of motorway miles on a naked and it makes a big difference. Can't beat the sun visor either :D

Re: Quietest helmet???
Is it quiet enough not to need ear plugs? its difficult to gauge how loud it must be! all i know is my nolan stops me hearing the engine properly at 80+ and after a few hours leaves me a little disorientated!

Re: Quietest helmet???
Quiet helment I had was a AVG, before they started fitting removable linings and leaving that huge void next to the ears, they seem to do it with all helmets now. Never found anything like it since. Though my KBC VR1 is not to bad, then compared to the Carberg its like being in a library... The Carberg is soooo noisy for a full faced helment.

Re: Quietest helmet???
Been using an S1 for a few rides and it's less noisy than the Arai AstroJ before it, but not that quiet.
Depends a lot on the bike I think, both mine are faired, and I've heard it's a lot quieter in free air on a nekkid. Up to about 60mph I find it fine, but for more than about 20mls I'd always use plugs. You can at least do short trips safely without plugs. It's a very nice helmet, comfy for me, well made, and the sun visor is just the best thing ever invented ever. It comes with it in "aviator" style with the nose notch, which annoys me, so they tell you to simply pull it out and turn it upside down, and you then have a straight edge. You can set it at whatever height you like, and this time of year being able to set it as a sunstrip is perfect. |
