YES to back protector.

A back protector is only 2nd to the crash helmet in regards to buying the correct kit to wear on a bike. Helmet, then back protector, then the rest of your gear.

You want to know what can happen even when you are fully kitted up then click the link in my signature below. Take particular attention to the bit about my back. My protector saved my life.

Yes, get a back protector. I always use my Knox gilet back protector/chest protection vest on the bike.

I would suggest going to a shop with your gear on and get properly fitted. I had a look online and thought the same. I talked to a Knox sales rep at the NEC show and got properly fitted for one for my leathers, it fits and is pretty comfortable.

ive got a forcefield one, very comfortable and after 5 mins of wearing it it moulds to your back shape, came 10 out of 10 in rides test, there are some other good ones out there but i like the shape and fit of the forcefield.

I'm not sure the comparrisons of size between the forcefiled and the knox back protectors but bear in mind that any back protector you get should go all the way down to your coccyx!

A lot of the back protectors only stop just above the top of your leathers which doesnt give optimum protection.

After my off, I can say that any back protector is better than none. Full length is the way to go, but if you cannot fit a full length one don't think that there is no point to a half length or jacket fitted one.

I got away with bruising but without the shoulder armour and back protector I would have broken something, possibly my back. My back protector was the standard fit from HG fitted i the jacket. It took the impact when I hit the road on my back.

Get the best fit / size / quality you can afford. There are folks on here to attest to the efficacy of modern impact protection.
