He may have bought the bike cheap and claimed on insurance and then bought it back and has done it up to make some money. I haven't seen it yet though. |

The sv650 is an intermediate bike for me. I really want a cbr600rr but i passed my test last year and don't want to have such a big jump especially as i am still on a 33bhp license. So the sv650s will be a temporary bike so i don't want to lose much in depreciation. Want model of sv650 would you recommend to hold its value? |

Re: HPI - help please
they are cheap from new, so depreciation is never that big in comparison to other bikes. Maybe look at a cbr600f instead? its probably a better choice than a cbr600rr anyway if you plan on doing any mileage!

Re: HPI - help please
Just a little note on finance showing up on HPI checks.
Sometimes Experian or whoever is providing the details on the check havent updated their systems with the information when the finance was cleared. Before deciding not to purchase the bike call the finance company listed and ask them if there is finance still outstanding and that you are looking to buy the bike. If its clear then they can send you confirmation in writing that is it clear. I see this alot when taking in part exchanges as I always HPI them before taking them in. The damage part though. I wouldnt for £1500. There are plenty of bikes the same year for about that money private, that ok maybe a little ropey or high mileage but havent been crashed. Unless the bike has been repaired by a proper shop and you can see exactly what was damaged and repaired on that paperwork id stay clear. |
Re: HPI - help please
umh, HPI showing outstanding finance and a cat D right off..
Personally I'd be walking away. |
Re: HPI - help please
Well here is an update. I have got in contact with the finance people and checkabike and the finance was paid off. There system was not updated. I have deatails of damage, all farings and the headlights.
The bike has been repaired and repainted. All cosmetic damage. The guy wants £1500 but as it is classed as a CAT D, i should be able to bargain a good price. It has not too may miles and it is black and it looks like new, because it has new fairings! My opinion has changed, i may get this bike. The dates of insurance claiming were delayed. The guy bought the bike damaged after accident but the insurance company did not update records. He did not have the crash. |
Re: HPI - help please
If the guy wants £1500 and has bought the bike to fix and try and make money on, I'd walk. You'll never be able to haggle him down to a realistic price.
What corners has he cut to try and turn a profit? Trying to think of an accident that would damage both sides of the bike without hurting anything major. Narrow alleyway perhaps? |
