Hitting the link pipe on with a hammer gets it forward too, and gets a good seal (did this tonight), but tap it gently and use some packing. Mine was a low level link pipe so was the blows kind of lined up.

I just put on my CCC can. You might be tempted to hacksaw it with the pipes on the bike.... DON'T! It may only be just possible but much more difficult. Once you've removed the pipes and with a sharp blade it's not to hard to keep the cut straight with the pipe having an inner lining and most of all that most famous quote:

Managed mine on the bike but the last bit of the cut was a little awkward and snapped the handle 2/3 of the way through. Still a good way to spend the evening in the sun.
