The Chaparral, Spanish for road runner, were a series of innovative race cars built by Jim Hall and Hap Sharp to challenge the "big guns" of the automotive racing world. During a time when major manufacturers, mostly European, were dominiating racing circuits around the world the Chaparral championed the underdog and captured the imaginations of Americans. Thier work revolutionized the racing world by introducing new technologies. They introduced the first moveable wing and thier work with aerodynamics, ground effects, and composite materials set the standard for racing during their time. |

Smashing pics. Especially #7. Fantastic noise they make... If you're lucky enough to ever hear it. I did, last year (I think) at Sammy Miller's museum, when Sammy blasted it round and round his courtyard!

I'll add mine here rather than start a new thread.
Went to the FoS on Friday, was a bit disappointed this year to be honest, they sell so many tickets it's really hard to get near the track at a decent point. Managed to see the bikes this year though which I completely missed last year. They are great :) looks like you got really close :) we were track side through most of the day but only took my average range lense when i should have taken one to get closer... also my height meant that most of my shots have the straw bales in view lol so some have focussed on those :(

Thanks, have a 70-200mm lens at the mo' so could get a bit closer than you did. I also know where the closest place to the track is (just after the first corner) which helped.
