Re: any police on here
Dependant on if you get a local bobby or a traffic one I suppose. Some coppers who don't ride probably don't know about the "E" markings and therefore would be liable to let you off due to their ignorance.
Traffic bobbies are there to inforce the law, I suppose they have their descretion. I say don't be too obvious and don't be too loud in built up areas. Save it for the open roads when you can open her up. |
Re: any police on here
i'm a copper(somone has to) -you will probably only get trouble with a traffic cop or with a normal cop who wants to go to the traffic and is very clued up on the legislation-I drove by the traffic with my stubbied race can and show lights at four in the morning a few weeks ago and never got pulled but think this was more to do with me giving it very little throttle and heading away from them-think if your gonna ride your bike with parts fitted that are not 100% legal you must be prepared to take the ball kicking that might come when/if you get pulled-Iknow i am but i prefer my bike with a loud can etc.

Loud pipes save lives man, and imagine the world with everyone riding silent bikes :-(

Re: any police on here
So long as you don't ride like a gimp you'll be right. My bike has a nice set of Micron headers and a Blue Flame unbaffled can, and it's damn loud. No bother with it thus far, but if I do get into any bother I'll just take it on the chin as I know it's too loud really. Doesn't stop me as I like the loud can, but I'm not under any illusion that it's legal just cos the cn has a BS mark on it.
Remove the baffle and you take your chance, but if you get pulled and get "done" don't complain about it. |
Re: any police on here
both my sv's have loud cans. When suzy belonged to im indoors he was pulled over. the copper had a look over her and declared- well you do have to be seen and heard. suzy's yellow with an art can. The copper then told him to get on his way and said'nice bike'. unless your pulling wheelies and acting like a prat most police people have usually got something better to do, other than attempt to bag every biker with a loud exhaust

like you say, you pay your money and take your risk, i ride with the exhaust and a black visor (when it's sunny, cloudy or evening and the clear one comes out) and you'll just have to take it on the chin if a copper is having a bad day and wants to bag you:cool: |

Re: any police on here
I was being followed by one today, I gave him a wave- and he waved back!- a first! But he said nothing of my can....or plate....or dubious indicators (maybe because he couldn't see them at all). But I was driving carefullly - and not reving high, and he was obviously pretty cool about it. I think those motorbike cops deserve a lot of praise, it doesn't look like an easy job - and they're damned good riders!
