Re: Comfortable Seat?

I have a curvy with a cut down seat (bought it from a short person) and I find it more comfortable than the stock seat, which I tried to see the difference. I'm not sure about the pointies though. The point of this is that a few bikes back I had to replace the seat cos it had rusted to bits, and the new one was a couple of inches taller, and it gave me hellish lower back trouble, I ended up lashing up a new seat base and using the old one. Dunno if this might also be your problem.

I have one of those gel seats on my K2 Curvy and it seems much more comfortable than the original. Bought it as new old stock from ebay for £46, bargain I think. Looks the same as the one dan1234? is selling further up this thread!

After 1500 miles in 5 days I can report that the gel seat is fine! Well worth it if you can find one. Wish I had sorted out a flyscreen though!

I've got a boney butt and have never had any problems with the sv, i have herd of ppl using cycling Lycra shorts with the gel inserts, maybe this is an option for when your back trouble flares up?

Re: Comfortable Seat?

Get the Corbin seat. I've used them when I lived in Canada and they make any ride more than an hour becomes a pleasure instead of torture. I had one on my Katana 1100 and on my VFR 750. It took me 5 weeks to get mine here in the UK but it was worth the wait. These seats are the best. Once you have one you will never be able to ride a crap stock seat again. The stock foam is not compliant and ends up riding between your cheeks and giving you a sore ****, and also you get point loading on your lower pelvic bones which give you that familiar ache we all get about an hour in.

Words of wisdom... the seat is fitted to a generic bum shape, so it may feel a bit flat at first, but will form in a short time. You actually sit lower by about 25-30mm when the Corbin is on, but that is because the seat uses a better quality shaped foam vs the filler that comes in stock seats. The holes for the front end of the seat weren't lining up easily, so I took a pair of M10 flat washers and used them as spacers between the bracket and the seat body to get a better fit.

I can only sit and wonder why most bike manufacturers will charge you £5000+ for a new bike (500cc and up) and put a crap foam seat on it.

I've copied an email I recieved from the company where I bought it.

Corbins are made to order. Our next order is being placed towards the end of July, they then take 4-6 weeks to be built and shipped to the UK.

You can get me on 01932 259881 if you would like to place an order.

Kind regards

That's a great idea.
