Re: Free firewall ...

I have Avast antivirus and I use the routers firewall, plus windows own firewall.
Don't have any problems and it's easy to setup, especially for internet gaming.

Oh jeepers. STOP USING ZONE ALARM PEOPLE.... unless you like the fact that it secretly dials out while you are on the net and sends encrypted files to an Israeli Security company.

Someone discovered this about ZA and then the owners of ZA said "yes it does....but we cant tell you what it sends or why or who we share it with".

Use it if you must but be aware its doing this and using your computer's resources to do god knows what else. Aparently the program that does the dialing and sending etc also uses cloaking technology so most peeps cant even see it happening in their task manager or CPU usage!!

nope. Not until I boot it up as winxp on an external. I do wish OSX was as compatible as windows based systems, just like Vista.....;)

what evidence do you have of this? it is very easy to say negative things without any more justification than someone told me. Thats not enough for me I'm afraid, same as I don't believe everything I read in the papers. If you have evidence you should use it to back up your comments rather than just saying it does this and that.

Sorry Spidey, but that sounds more like one of those FUD stories you hear (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) spread by competitors or people who don't like ZoneAlarm (or ZoneLabs, or CheckPoint now).

Without links to verifiable literature I, for one, would take that with a pinch of salt.

Had a chat with a bunch guys on Astalavista, they have all said the same thing. Nothing wrong with Zone alarm. I trust these guys as they are into security and hacking in a big way.
Just thought I'd share :)
